How was Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu Given?

How was Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu given?

Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu or the Path as shown by Sage Agastya is a series of discourses that was given by this great Sage to help mankind walk on the path of wisdom.

In the early 1980's, in a small hill town in Madikeri, Coorg in Southern India, a young girl picked up a statue of Sage Agastya lying on the stairs leading to her house. Around the same time, the family witnessed a miraculous healing at their home.

Thirty years later, a series of events lead to the girl's father Gajaraj Swamigal, connecting with Sage Agastya. He first heard Sage Agastya's voice at the Sri Lopamudra Agastya Ashrama at Basavanapura, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore. Details of this sacred place is given in one of the posts in this blog.

Gajaraj Swamigal would give voice to Sage Agastya. Discourses in classical Tamil flowed out of his mouth sometimes continuously for two hours. Not a single word, paragraph or sentence had to be changed when publishing the Tamil books. No editing of the content, sentence or paragraph structure were required. They were perfect!

Arul Thai Vijayalaksmi as Sage Agastya himself addressed her, wrote down the discourses.

During the next three years, the Sage gave him great knowledge in classical Tamil as he sat in meditation. The girl's father gave voice to the knowledge flowing through him in the Tamil language, a mastery of which he did not possess. The girl's mother Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi wrote it all down. The dictation happened without any interruption, research, or prior knowledge of the topic of the day. Soon people arrived and posed different questions. Responses were received for questions spoken and unspoken.

Gajaraj Swamigal compiled some of the discourses into a bilingual book titled 'Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu' in Tamil and English and published it in India. It received praise from no less than the then President of India, AJ Abdul Kalam! Gajaraj Swamigal passed away soon after.

Today, all the discourses are published into English translations as well as in Tamil in their original format. Readers from around the world who express the truth and deep connection they feel to the words given by the great Sage are a testimony to this book of knowledge -Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu.

The books have readers around the world: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Spain, France, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Italy.
