Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi

Like Vinayagar wrote ....

Addressing Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi, Karumaariamman said, "Just as Vinayagan wept with happiness as he wrote what Vysa Muni was dictating, you too who are submerged in tears, singing about Muruga's grace in this Kali Yuga, it was because of your good deeds that you have the blessing to write this sacred book (Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu). Until you finish your work, Agasthiyar will help you retain good health".

Every one of you who are reading Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu are reading it because this mother - Arul Thai Vijayalaksmi, wrote down all the discourses by hand as Sage Agastya was giving them in Tamil through Gajaraj Swamigal.
Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi, wife of Gajaraj Swamigal

The attribution 'Arul Thai' was given to Vijayalakshmi, wife of Gajaraj Swamigal, by Sage Agastya himself. He said, "As days go by, people around the world will know about you. A time will come when everyone refers to you as 'Arul Thai' (blessed mother). May only your motherhood shine for your family, friends and the world".
Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi who had studied only till the 9th grade, wrote down the discourses that came in a continuous flow sometimes for up to two hours! What you are all reading in the Tamil chapters, are exactly as they were given with no changes either to the sentences, words or paragraphs. That is how the discourses of 'Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu' were given: as perfect chapters!
Despite being an innocent and simple soul, it was this mother who had the presence of mind to narrate what occurred during the final initiation before Sage Agastya spoke through Gajaraj Swamigal, in probably what appears to be one of the last few times.
One of the first miracles in Gajaraj Swamigal's home actually happened when the statue of Sage Agastya was picked up by Anuradha. It was around this time, that Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi was miraculously cured and a surgery that had been scheduled for her cancelled!
As Sage Agastya predicted, Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi remained healthy throughout the giving of the Vazhipaadu. It was only many years later, that we found out that she had a weak heart from her very birth. It had never been diagnosed! Yet she had remained healthy to fulfill this sacred task.
When Vallai Maharishi of Agastya Gnana Peetam, Malaysia heard that she was still alive, he visited her three times in the last three years.
April 29th, 2024 we celebrate her 84th birthday. Just like Gajaraj Swamigal who remained unknown and passed away quietly after his work was completed, Arul Thai Vijayalakshmi remains quietly living the last years of her life in Bangalore, in India.
